As part of an ongoing review of our colleague benefits, ASM launched a paid volunteering option recently and it has been fantastic to see our teams embrace this by getting involved in supporting local charities last week.
On Wednesday some of the team spent the day at the Cheshire Wildlife Trust Wildflower Nursery and were even lucky enough for it to be a nice sunny day. The charity aims to grow 50,000 trees (over 36 species) to help restore Cheshire’s meadows. Our team supported with lots of jobs including planting, weeding and even moving trees!
Later in the week more of our team were on hand to help our charity partner, Alder Hey Children’s Charity. The charity had taken delivery of 18,000 toy elephants so our team got their steps in moving the boxes up two flights of stairs ready to be sold and make money for this very worthy cause.
In line with our value ‘We Care’, all of our colleagues are able to take a day volunteering to give back to our community.
Social
We believe in engaging and investing in our local community.
Supporting Local Charities
Each year we commit to raising money for a charity chosen by our colleagues which delivers a positive social impact on our community.
Supporting Local Events
Funding charity events such as the Krazy Races is crucial because it allows us to support important causes, raise awareness and foster community involvement.
Supporting Local People
ASM Academy is more than just a training centre, it’s a catalyst for personal and professional growth. We understand the unique challenges faced by individuals seeking to enter the tech industry, and we are committed to providing accessible pathways to success. By partnering with local organisations, educational institutions, and aspiring tech enthusiasts, we are actively shaping a brighter future together.
Brighter future together…..
One particular partner we are proud to work with is ‘The Cheshire & Warrington Pledge’. The Pledge Partnership enables businesses to work together with educators to provide every young person living, studying and/or working in Cheshire and Warrington with everything they need to succeed in the world of work. With the opportunity to develop employability-related skills and personal qualities whilst in education, there is a choice of employment, training or further education when they leave school.
Employers work directly with young people, teachers, parents, carers and youth workers to help the local community identify the employment opportunities available.
Supporting a Fair Deal
We believe everyone deserves a wage that reflects the real cost of living and are a fully accredited member of the Living Wage Foundation.
Supporting Diversity
We embrace the power of diversity. Recognising that it is not only a driving force behind innovation and creativity, but also a fundamental element that strengthens our organisation.
At ASM we are committed to creating a work environment that is inclusive to all. We therefore encourage applications from applicants with a disability and will always offer an interview to an applicant who declares he or she has a disability, if the person meets the minimum criteria for any role advertised. To demonstrate this commitment, we have signed up to ‘Disability Confident’ and have adapted our recruitment processes to meet the five commitments: inclusive and accessible recruitment, communicating vacancies, offering an interview to disabled people, providing reasonable adjustments, and supporting existing employees. We have also pledged to carry out at least one ‘activity’, such as offering disabled people work experience or work trials.
