A Year In Emerging Tech: Looking Back On 2024

At ASM, we are great believers in the power of innovation and we love to talk about Emerging Technologies. As we reflect on our fiscal year 2024-2025 and the latest technological advancements, we’re excited to share some of the groundbreaking technologies we’ve worked with firsthand over the past year.

2024: The Year of AI

It’s impossible to discuss emerging or disruptive technologies without highlighting AI & Machine Learning, which have dominated the tech landscape in 2024.
AI-assisted tools have experienced dramatic improvements in efficiency and productivity, with applications extending to everything from enterprise software to wellness devices and even toothbrushes. We’ve witnessed incredible demonstrations from GoTo, showcasing AI’s transformative power and their ambitious roadmap featuring Agentic AI and Self-Healing AI solutions.
Our long-term partnership with Forum Systems has yielded Quantum Gears, enabling enterprise organisations to harness the capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini while safeguarding their sensitive data. Although AI represents a powerful tool for boosting efficiency and automating repetitive tasks, it carries significant risks, including potentially harmful outcomes, biased results, and misuse. Quantum Gears Secure GPT addresses these concerns, allowing businesses to safely reap the benefits of LLMs.

Cybersecurity & Threat Intelligence

As threat actors increasingly leverage AI to enhance their attacks, cybersecurity risks have become more complex and challenging. With a new cyberattack occurring every 39 seconds and countless data points and connections to protect, developing robust, adaptable defence solutions remains paramount.
Throughout 2024, we’ve collaborated with Recorded Future, who provide real-time threat intelligence to safeguard digital assets. Their Intelligence Cloud employs AI-driven analysis to identify and mitigate risks, helping customers stay ahead of emerging threats. Partner vendor Ripjar further leverages this technology to help organisations detect, analyse, and respond to sophisticated attacks.
With phishing and identity-based attacks (credential theft, MFA bypass, AI impersonation fraud) increasing in both frequency and complexity, we’ve witnessed remarkable innovations in password elimination technology. Beyond Identity offers cutting-edge authentication that enhances security while improving user experience—moving beyond traditional MFA and SSO with a secure access platform built for modern teams and modern risks.

Data & Cloud Innovation

The methods organisations use to store, access, and leverage information are rapidly evolving, making Data & Cloud innovations essential across all industries. Despite significant advancements, data experts suggest numerous untapped opportunities remain for organisations to leverage cloud-native solutions for better outcomes.
Our strategic vendor Immuta enables secure and compliant data access for enterprises, addressing critical concerns regarding data privacy and regulatory compliance. Meanwhile, Panzura is revolutionising hybrid cloud file services by managing unstructured data at scale, allowing organisations to maintain control while benefiting from cloud elasticity.

Software Development & IT Management

Digital transformation remains a top priority for businesses worldwide, keeping the software development sector perpetually dynamic. Industry leaders emphasise developer productivity and the significant impact of modern tools and AI on software quality and delivery speed.
Altova continues to simplify XML, data integration, and mobile app development, while Nagios sets the standard for IT infrastructure monitoring and observability. Device Management & Document Processing

Solutions continue to evolve in response to the growing prevalence of connected devices in enterprise settings. Our partner Corellium provides a powerful virtual hardware platform for developers and security researchers to build accurate virtual devices for iOS, Android, and IoT. This technology supports software development, testing, and security analysis without relying on physical hardware. Meanwhile, Nitro advances document workflows with PDF editing and e-signature capabilities, addressing the ongoing need for digital document management in modern businesses.

ASM and Computacenter Talk About Careers in STEM At Abertay University

STEM careers offer exciting, life-changing opportunities. While historically seen as a closed-off field, we’re thrilled to see and support more initiatives making it accessible and inclusive for everyone.

That’s why we were excited to collaborate with Computacenter at Abertay University to inspire the next generation and raise awareness of STEM among children!

Our Sales Director, Iain Tomkinson, shared his thoughts:

“I feel incredibly fortunate about my journey into a channel/tech role. Like most of us, sales and the channel found me, it wasn’t intentional. School careers days certainly didn’t have a tech/STEM focus in my day.

That’s why when Reena Chawla asked if ASM  would support Computacenter with a STEM event at Abertay University to help build awareness of STEM among children, the decision was immediate.

My career in the channel has quite literally changed my life. The opportunity to highlight what a fantastic place the channel is to work and build a career and hopefully open up different avenues into channel/tech via placements, apprenticeships and university courses was incredible.”

With the help of our Senior Business Development Manager, Simon Keilty, we engaged the children by showcasing the technology behind drones—sparking curiosity and inspiring the future tech innovators of tomorrow.
